Riddle, Applewhite win local runoff election
Voters chose to return Titus County Commissioner Precinct 1 Commissioner Al Riddle to another term winning over challenger Mack Love in Tuesday's runoff contest. Riddle won with 56.9 percent (371) of the votes over Love who finished with 281 votes (43.1 percent).
Riddle and Love were forced to face off after neither earned the required 50 percent +1 majority during the primary election. Riddle received 532 votes to Love's 400 ahead of third candidate Jeff Parchman who earned 254 votes.
Titus County Commissioner Precinct 3 candidate Dana Applewhite defeated Gary Murray in the May 24 runoff election receiving 249 votes to 195.
In March, Applewhite received 355 votes to Murray's 298 votes. Bobby Parr earned 266 votes in the earlier election. Applewhite will replace current Commissioner Phillip Hinton who chose not to run for re-election.
